Lash lovers let's talk retention.......this heat wave has been amazing but I know some of you are struggling with retention. We've adapted our working conditions with the use of air con this year, and stock a range of adhesives to suit changes in our working environment but still some of you are struggling to keep them looking as fresh and full as usual. It's hot, sometimes hotter than hot and as Brits we're not equipped to deal with such awesome weather for so long. Our homes aren't kitted out with air con and there's no afternoon siesta or pool to cool off in. So what can you do....other than moan about it in true Brit form?? Wash your lashes daily for a start. In this heat we sweat and produce more oils on our hair and skin. Think head hair, and the hot nights making it require washing more frequently. Your lashes are no different. Suntan lotions add extra oils that can make their way into the bond so ensure you wash it off EVERY night. If you don't think the baby shampoo is cleansing well enough, then pick up a foam cleanser at your next appointment which is specially formulated for lash extensions. This is what we use on you pre infill. If you're using neither then there's your issue. Daily washing will not only remove excess oils but will ensure lashes stay healthy and clean and protect you from unwanted visitors like dermodex mites and nasty conditions such as blepharitis!! Make sure you're taking your antihistamines if you suffer from hayfever too. Watery eyes can crust up those lashes over night, but be aware that eye drops can contain oils so will also affect the bond and retention. Got an overwhelming urge to rub your itchy dry eyes? Don't. This can damage the bond between extension and natural lash so please please be careful. Use the mascara wand to give them a good brush instead.

For the first twenty four hours, not only should you keep them dry, you need to avoid extreme heat and sun so go easy on the sunbathing straight after your treatment. We now offer fortnightly infills so if you think you can't last your usual three weeks, book in fortnightly until the heat wave has done one, which should be anytime soon seeing as the school summer holidays start. It'll then be rain for six weeks and we can start banging on about keeping 'em dry!! ☔
