Baby we have history …
Gel systems have been in the UK for around for many years now, and are one of the most popular treatments with their long wear time, chip free shine and vast choice of colours.
What’s it all about?...
Gel Polish is a brush on system that is thicker than regular nail polish and hardens (cures) under a UV or Led light, each layer is cured and a top coat is applied to give unbeatable shine. Here at Lash and Beauty Collective we use gel polish and also builder gel, which is a thicker system than gel polish and acts as a protective shield for your nails allowing your natural nails to grow longer and stronger. Your fresh gel mani will last three weeks plus…….. IF you follow these after care tips.
The Time has come …
... you have just left the salon with some freshly painted nails! Look at you, your fabulous!
First stop: the loo, that coffee goes straight through you right? Now when you all done your really going to want to push that flush button. STOP! COLLABORATE! & LISTEN ….
Push that flush using your knuckle, using your finger with long nails applies pressure, and we don’t want that!
After a day of trying to concentrate but subsequently failing due to staring at your new nails at every given opportunity.. its now the evening (wow they even look good in low light). Your evening routine begins usually with a good bit of grub #dinnertime! Two things are going to happen next .. cooking and cleaning (urgh)
Firstly, If you have chosen a lighter shade of gel polish please take care when using spices and sauces, these can stain your nails! (this also applies for fake tan and make up) When in doubt … wear gloves!
The cleaning down of the sides and washing up …. ALWAYS WEAR THE GLOVES !
(This applies for all cleaning when chemicals are being used or your hands will remain in water for a long period of time)
Finally its bed time, after a long day of looking amazing, its time to hit the sack …. but first...
Apply cuticle oil, this helps strengthen your nails and stops your cuticles from drying out. We want to keep enjoying these beauties for the next few weeks. Right?
One more thing .. these nails are not tools, I’ll give you some examples..
That pot of your favourite blush you have to pop open using your nail everyday … No! No! Definitely not! Try using nail clippers an alternative. Your welcome.
Opening a can of drink .. I think not, pass me a spoon or phone a friend. The boss carries a tea spoon in her handbag I kid you not.
Got a delivery? Whether it’s a plastic bag or cardboard box… get the damn scissors!
Dropped a penny… sorry, this no longer belongs to you!
So , to conclude, when you follow these simple aftercare steps you can keep your nails looking as fresh as they day they were done! Now repeat the nail mantra “Jewels not tools”
